To help pass the time, I went and hung out in the man cave today. Not a bad place to hang.

Due to this 3 day storm, we didn't have our Christmas Eve service tonight. Gasp! It just doesn't feel like Christmas Eve without singing Silent Night with our candles. Tevye from Fiddler on the Roof would be very disappointed. Tradition has been broken. My deepest apologies to all the mamas and papas.
Aside from church being cancelled, the Kooistra household followed tradition. I would have hated to see what would happen if we couldn't have our traditional Christmas Eve meal.

Pigs in the blanket. The real kind. Not the crescent roll wrapped around a lil' smokie nonsense. We don't mess around here in the midwest. Scrumtrulescent. That's what that is.
Following the eating of the pigs, we open presents. Woo Hoo!!! You're never too old to enjoy the surprise of opening the gifts you told mom that you wanted. And you know she got them for you. Mom don't disappoint. What's more fun is to see the look on Dad's face as he sees what we're all getting. He's the only one surprised. "Oh, that's nice, Emily!" I know, Dad. I picked it out myself.
Opening my new Fix-it and Forget-it Cookbook. It was a pretty piece of paper that told me it was waiting for me back home in Lynden.

Good times. Good gifts. Now it's time to play Rummikub.
Merry Christmas Eve!
What is Phil opening??????
